Granite

What is Granite?

Polished granite is a popular choice for kitchen bench tops due to its high durability and aesthetic qualities.

Granite is a common and widely occurring type of intrusive, felsic, igneous rock. Granite usually has a medium- to coarse-grained texture. Granite is nearly always massive and lacking internal structures, hard and tough, and therefore it has gained widespread use as a construction stone.

A granite slab will have the same general characteristics (such as colour) depending on where it has been mined. However each slab will vary from the next to a greater degree than the engineered stones. It is therefore recommended that the slab is inspected prior to being cut for your bench top.

Granite is available in 30mm thickness and some colours are also available in 20mm. Granite can be mitred to form thicker profiles although this may not be possible in some colours. As Granite is a natural product small hair line cracks can be present in the stone and are not considered defects. Granite surfaces carry a 10 year limited warranty for residential applications.
